Senegal’s recently appointed ambassador in Spain, Mariame Sy, visited Casa África this morning, as part of a working visit to the Canary Islands that includes the presentation of the Emerging Senegal plan in the Tenerife and Gran Canaria chambers of commerce and meetings with institutions and authorities such as the President of the Canary Islands Government, Fernando Clavijo, and the Deputy Councillor for Foreign Affairs of the Canary Islands Executive, Luis Padilla.
The Senegalese diplomat arrived at Casa África accompanied by the honorary consul of Senegal in the Canary Islands, Katia Van Bockel, and by her team, made up of Maguette Sow, the first secretary in charge of Political and Consular Affairs, and Aby Molenthiel, personal assistant and secretary. The ambassador’s visit coincided with the press conference presenting the exhibition Welcome Her by Yapci Ramos, at which Mariame Sy was delighted to be able to enjoy the work of a woman who also has close ties with Africa. The subsequent meeting with the recently appointed director general of Casa África, José Segura, included issues such as the previously mentioned Emerging Senegal plan and possible future collaborations in areas such as renewable energies, maritime transport and port activity.
