Our mission is to bring Africa and Spain closer
Through outreach, educational, economic, and cultural activities, we foster mutual understanding and strengthen Hispanic African relations.
Luis Padrón, director general of Casa África, represented that institution at the Fifth South-South Travelling Film Festival of Equatorial Guinea (FECIGE), held last week in Malabo and sponsored by Casa África. Padrón was at the closing ceremony of the FECIGE, which took place in the Rial Cinema and was attended by the Secretary of State for Culture, José Antonio Esono Abeso Maquina.
The director general of Casa África used his visit to Equatorial Guinea to hold working meetings with the Minister of State for Tourism, Tomás Mecheba Fernández Galilea; the Minister for the Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises, Hermes Ela Mifumu; the Rector of the National University of Equatorial Guinea, Filiberto Ntutumu; and the previously mentioned Secretary of State for Culture.
Casa África has been supporting the FECIGE since it began. Organised by the General Directorate of Cultural Centres and Cinema, to which the Cultural Centre of Equatorial Guinea belongs, it counts among its prizes the Ceiba Award for short films, offered by Casa África. As part of the Ceiba Award, Casa África covers the costs for the winning director to participate in the next African Film Festival in Tarifa.
