Yesterday afternoon, the newly appointed Prime Minister of Cape Verde, Ulisses Correia e Silva, accompanied by his Minister of Economy and Employment, José da Silva González, began a small tour of the Canary Islands with a reception at Casa África. The tour is to contact institutions and business people from the Canary Islands linked to the Cape Verde Islands.
The director general of Casa África, Luis Padrón, organised a dinner which was attended by the Minister of Economy, Industry, Energy and Knowledge, Pedro Ortega; the consul of Cape Verde in the Canary Islands, Juan Cárdenes; and a representation of business people from the Canary Islands, including the presidents of the Canary Islands Confederation of Employers, the Chamber of Commerce of Gran Canaria and the enterprise circle comprising Agustín Manrique de Lara, José Sánchez Tinoco and Mario Romero Mur. The meeting was also attended by representatives of Canary Islands companies with a presence or interests in Cape Verde, such as Binter (represented by its managing director, Alfredo Morales), Emicela (its president, Sergio Arencibia, attended), the IFA Group (with its president Santiago de Armas) and Clínica San Roque (with its President Mario Rodríguez).
In addition to Luis Padrón presenting Casa África’s work and future projects to the prime minister and the attendees, the Prime Minister of Cape Verde signed Casa África’s book of honour and told the audience about his goals as leader of the Cape Verde government.
