The Town Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, through the International Film Festival, along with Casa África and Casa-Museo de Colón give space to African cinema with the African Film Series, and a selection of 3 major titles present in the last African Film Festival of Cordoba (FCAT) that will be exhibited, for free, at the Casa-Museo de Colón next 15, 16 and 17 January, at 20:00.
The exhibition provides the public of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria the best three films in the last FCAT, a selection of titles that have represented their countries of origin in numerous international competitions, and are an interesting point of view on the way film production is covered.
Tey (Aujourd'hui), by Alain Gomis (2011), produced between France and Senegal, is the first title that can be seen in the Casa-Museo de Colón. Its screening, tomorrow Wednesday, 15th January, brings to the screen the last day of the life of its young protagonist, Satche. On Thursday 16th, the Cycle rescues one of the first feature films produced in Rwanda, Matière Grise (Grey matter) by Kivi Rohorahoza (2011), a film about the country's recent past. Finally, on Friday the 17th, the Casa-Museo of Colón will open its halls to Gangster Project, by Teboho Edkins (2011) a German-South African film, somewhere between fiction and reality, wgich demonstrates the shock facing a young film-maker who decides to produce an audiovisual work with real gangsters in Cape Town.
