Africa knocks on Spanish tourism's know-how door

05/12/2012

Africa seeks the Spanish tourism industry's extensive knowledge to continue advancing in its tourism development. On 31st January, as part of FITUR, a new edition of Forum for Tourism Investments and Business in Africa (INVESTOUR) will put Spanish companies in contact with African tourism sector companies and institutions. There is two months until this fourth edition of INVESTOUR is held, this forum organised by the World Tourism Organisation WTO, FITUR and Casa África, already has a portfolio of around fifty projects seeking partners in more than 25 African countries.

The projects seeking Spanish partners do not exclusively require investors, but want help and knowledge in areas where Spain is recognised in Africa as an outstanding country and world leader. Fields such as training tourist guides or other professionals in the sector share a space with projects to promote sustainable tourism and the development of important infrastructures such as the building of hotels and tourist complexes in Ghana, Cameroon, Burundi or Mauritania.

Like every year, INVESTOUR will hold a technical session on tourism in Africa and its relationship with Spain, with the participation of top representatives of the tourism sector on a public and private level. A Business to Business (B2B) meeting is also organised together with business meetings between Spanish and African companies and institutions, dealing with a previously agreed agenda.

Not only the Forum but the B2B meeting allow the direct contact of not only those in charge of each project presented, but also those in charge of the ministries of tourism in the African countries present at the Fair. The event is an ideal venue for Spanish tourism companies who want to promote internationalisation and give themselves a general idea of the extensive range of opportunities that exist on the African continent. During the last edition, INVESTOUR  223 people actively participated and included projects from 33 African countries.
