Mecuria Assefaw, the chief financial analyst for the Department of Water and Sanitation Operations of the African Development Bank (AfDB), has announced at the international forum being undertaken in Fuerteventura, Africagua 2012 that this organisation is going to launch public tenders "for a value of 850 million Euros in 2013”.
The tenders are aimed at improving water supply and sanitation "are going to be carried out in 12 countries in Africa, with each country having 12 projects in this matter," explained Mercuria Assefaw.
Assefaw told the 110 businessmen that took part in the international meeting for renewable energy and water that is held in Fuerteventura, that in 2011 "184 projects budgeted at 7,000 million Euros, have started to be undertaken or will shortly do so on the African continent" were approved.
The AfDB receives contributions from the 53 countries in Africa and 25 outside the region. Spain has been a member of this non-financial entity since 1984. The AfDB's aim is to promote sustainable development on the continent. The financial analyst encouraged the organisations that attended the sessions to be more visible internationally. "You have to go in the search of business, because business does not come looking for you" he declared.
Casa África has organised this information day on AfDB's tenders and projects in the areas of water and sanitation. This meeting took place yesterday at Africagua, whilst today it will be held at the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
