12/12/2016

The programme schedule for Casa África during next year and for its tenth anniversary, the lines of work of Casa África and the activities completed during the last quarter, the budget for 2017 and the renewal of the current leadership team were the main points at the meeting of the Governing Council of Casa África, which was held this afternoon at the institution’s headquarters. This is the eighteenth session of the Governing Council, the highest representative body of the institution of public diplomacy. Ignacio Ybáñez, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, and Laura García, Deputy Director General of Public Diplomacy, travelled from Madrid for the meeting. The Minister of the Economy, Industry and Knowledge, Pedro Ortega, and the Director General of Economic Relations with Africa, Pablo Martín Carbajal, attended on behalf of the Government of the Canary Islands and the mayor, Augusto Hidalgo, attended for the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. On behalf of Casa África, its Director General, Luis Padrón, and Secretary General, Arianne Hernández, attended. This afternoon, the three member institutions (MAEC, the Government of the Canary Islands and the City Council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria) expressed their satisfaction in the work of Casa África - which is reflected in more than 200 events a year - and in the management of Padrón and Hernández, whose leadership of Casa África was unanimously renewed.
