Casa África once again returned to the Madrid Book Fair with various book presentations, amongst which was the outstanding classic by Ki-Zerbo on the history of Black Africa, together with other parallel activities, such as the presentation of the International African Book Fair (SILA). This is an unmissable event for the publishing world and readers, with which Casa África closely collaborates and takes part in since it started nearly two years ago in Puerto de la Cruz (Tenerife). On this occasion, Casa África is also present at this well-established fair through an exhibitor, sharing with Casa Asia, where all visitors have access to the Casa África Collections as well as African-themed publications in general.
The Casa África programme took place on the afternoon of the 3rd June and included the presentation of several of the institution's most recent publications together with book signings by their authors. After the SILA, Casa África's Director General presented the book Historia del África Negra, by professor Ki-Zerbo from Burkina Faso. This is a true classic of African historiography and becomes the second book edited by Casa África with Editorial Bellaterra within its History and Politics Collection. The book's translator Carlo A. Caranci was also present.
Then it was the turn of the Democratic Republic of Congo and professor Isidore Ndaywel with the presentation of the book Historia del Congo . It is the most recent publication from the Essay Collection that Casa África edits in collaboration with Libros de la Catarata and deals with this Republic's history, from its beginning to the present day, focusing especially on the last 40 years.
