Cabra Casay

One of the falasha culture´s most interesting performers of the 21st century. She forms part of the Idan Raichel Project group.

Born in Sudan, during her parents´ journey to Israel (they were Ethiopian Jews), Casay grew up in an immigrant community located in the southern region of the Hebrew country, where she met Idan Raichel, the founder of the project for which she currently works, during her military service.

The singer´s style is a fusion between popular pop music and traditional Amharic and Tigre traditions, making her famous in her host country by discovering, through the Idan Raichel Project group, the diversity of the rhythms that recovers ethnic dispersion.

The Idan Raichel Project broke into the Israeli music scene in 2002, changing the characteristics of popular Israeli music. With an enchanting fusion of Ethiopian and Middle East flavours, combined with sophisticated production techniques and a spectacular live performance, the Idan Raichel Project has become one of the most unexpected successes of Israeli music today.
