Guillermina Mekuy Mba-Obono

This precocious writer is current the director of the Equatorial Guinea National Library

She was born in Equatorial Guinea on 25 June 1982. She has lived in Madrid since the age of six, although she loves her African roots, which is why she periodically visits her country of origin since that is where she finds the magic that inspires her to live and combine two different cultures (Western and African).

Mekuy holds a Law degree and another in Political Science from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, and she is currently the director of Equatorial Guinea Libraries and Museums as well as the director of the country´s National Library, which was inaugurated in Malabo in June 2009.

She has written and collaborated in various magazines and publications with articles, interviews and stories. Mekey has also written two novels: El llanto de la perra and Las tres vírgenes de Santo Tomás, in which she defends women´s liberation and rejects religious fanaticism.
