Our mission is to bring Africa and Spain closer
Through outreach, educational, economic, and cultural activities, we foster mutual understanding and strengthen Hispanic African relations.
Casa África will be the venue that will welcome the round table that will be held on the 10th December at 7.00 pm in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria coinciding with International Human Rights Day.
SGAE's Author Foundation organises this initiative with Amnesty International as the guest organisation. Author's Week brings together music and human rights in different events that will run from the 10th to the 16th December in eleven Spanish cities: Barcelona, Bilbao, Cádiz, Comillas, Huesca, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Madrid, Pontevedra, Sevilla, Valencia and Zaragoza.
This round table be held at Casa África's headquarters, will be attended by the authors Pedro Guerra, Arístides Moreno and Jean Naya, who will be accompanied by Delia Padrón, coordinator for Amnesty International in the Canary Islands. The table will be chaired by José Antonio Neketán and at the end of the meeting there will be a little performance by the authors.
As well as Pedro Guerra or Arístides Moreno, during author's week, authors such as Jabier Muguruza, Aurora Beltrán, José Ignacio Lapido, Javier Corcobado, Marina Gallardo, Amparo Sánchez, Shuarma, Klaus & Kinski, McEnroe or Vicky Gastelo, among many others will tour the different cities, offering concerts and round tables just as in Casa África.
Author's Week's aim is to promote the activity of creators, a music exhibition that has been held since 1996, although in this edition of 2012, SGAE's Author Foundation has wanted to take one step further and combine the work of authors with the defence of human rights.
With Amnesty International as guest organisation, and the collaboration of Radio 3 as the official media, an extensive programme of concerts and round tables has been prepared, which will take place in eleven Spanish cities and will have as their slogan Authors for Human Rights.
The Author's Week- which starts in Pontevedra on the 1st December with the participation of the Culturgal fair with a concert starring Silvia Penide, Xoan Curiel and Emilio Rúa- fires the starting gun for the official start on the 10th December, International Human Rights Day: concerts and round tables will take place all over Spain until the 16th December.
