#ÚNETE a la lucha para la Eliminación de la Violencia contra las Mujeres

Casa África joins the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence, an international campaign that begins every year on 25th November, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10th December, Human Rights Day.

It is a campaign initiated by activists within the Women's Global Leadership Institute when it was launched in 1991. It is a strategy implemented by individuals and organisations around the world to demand the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls.

To support this civil society initiative, in 2008 the UN Secretary-General launched the #UNiTE to End Violence against Women campaign, which is celebrated in conjunction with the 16 Days of Activism.

Each year, the #UNiTE campaign focuses on a specific theme. This year's theme is "UNiTE! Invest to prevent violence against women and girls" and the campaign calls on citizens to show how important it is for them to end violence against women and girls by sharing the actions they are taking to create a world free of violence against women.

This year's campaign also calls on governments around the world to share how they are investing in preventing gender-based violence.

Casa África will provide articles and video interviews, as well as other actions, during the 16 days of activism.
